Biggs served as a staff sergeant in the Army Reserve from 2004 to 2007 and in the active Army from 2007 to 2012. He deployed to Iraq from November 2005 until October 2006 and to Afghanistan from December 2007 to February 2009, according to the Army. He was awarded multiple decorations for his service, including the Purple Heart, the Army confirmed.
